Review on Wurkkos Flashlight Rechargeable Magnetic Activities by Lancy Rakesh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good addition to the Wurkkos family.

I heard about the new FC11, was intrigued and after hearing people talking about it I ordered one for myself. :D I've always liked Wurkko and Sofirn flashlights (which share quite a bit of genetic material) so it's no surprise that I like the FC11 too. It is both different and similar, which seems contradictory but is not. The head is almost identical to the SC31B but the body tube is unique, not smooth or knurled but ribbed which is a new feature. The back cover is also magnetic so it will stick to metal surfaces. (Be sure to carry around a flashlight with a magnet, as it can get dangerously close and obliterate credit cards and the like.) As such, it could be the perfect light for around the house or tool bag. A typical orange and white Wurkkos box consists of a lightweight printed guide, a pouch with a lanyard and extra O-rings, and a USB-C charging cable. The first impression is that the quality is excellent. Perfect anodizing, no scratches or marks, nice smooth semi-gloss black color. Except for the blue ring around the side switch, which adds a nice pop of color, all that glitters is black, including the pocket clip. While it's not a low-carrying clip, it's not your run-of-the-mill chrome clip that looks like an afterthought on so many lights. In itself, the lamp has a good weight. Everything seems pretty solid, nothing cheap or cheap anywhere. A particularly nice touch is that the light uses the LH351D LED, popular among lighting enthusiasts for its great hue, color and reproduction. There's nothing surprising here as it delivers an excellent beam, especially in an orange peel reflector. No rings, very little hue shift, just a small crown around the hotspot. The user interface (UI) is pretty good. There are two main modes of operation: step by step and smooth. The default step mode is easy to use. Tap, tap to switch between 5 modes from "Eco" (moonlight) to Low, Medium, High and Turbo. Press and hold to turn off. I know, I know, a lot of people just want to click and turn off, but I'm always used to a long click to turn off, so it just feels natural to me and I don't mind. general. Ramping works as expected. Press, press/hold to increase, press/hold again to decrease, press off. That should make the click-off crowd happy. : In power-off state, in any mode, press and hold for at least 3 seconds to switch between linear and stepping modes. The light flashes quickly a few times and then stays on in the new mode. On or off, again in either mode, a double click instantly takes you to Turbo mode, nominally 1,300 lumens. Another click takes you back to the previous mode (on or off). Note: This is a FET-based driver, so it's *not* adjustable, but it's proportional. The brightness depends on the cell voltage and cell quality. So yes, as the battery dies and the voltage decreases, the brightness will gradually decrease as well. The built-in cell is pretty good, giving you good brightness in the light. Speaking of dimming, the turbo really is a turbo meant for short bursts of bright light, and after a minute or so it starts to drop off to something more. stable. You can double-click to go back to turbo mode, but then you'll have to keep an eye on the temperature of the light. The temporary downgrade is pretty conservative, maybe too much so the Muggle doesn't self-ignite. :D The switch is illuminated to reflect the cell voltage. Green is good, red is bad (recharge). Ready. It is charged via a closed USB-C port. Flashing red means it's charging, green means it's ready. an issue for me but it would keep me from wearing it every day. Nevertheless, it illuminates the bag well. In general, everything works as expected. The quality is also as expected from Wurkkos and Sofirn, no glitches or freezes on the go. I'm also digging for a new ribbed design. :D
