The Schwinn quick release wire basket works but has some issues. The finish seems quite nice, a thick coat of glossy black enamel. Both the basket and mount seem pretty solid, but I wouldn't call them heavy duty. Installation is easy but requires the use of tools. I think most adults can handle it, but children or those with dexterity issues may need some help. Since the mounting screws thread into the plastic, I was also concerned about over-tightening and unthreading the holes. The size of the basket is sufficient for small groceries. I usually get a gallon of milk and assorted bits and pieces. I found that at about 10 pounds - namely the weight of a gallon of milk, two bags of frozen peas and a bottle of Worcestershire sauce - the basket shifted (i.e. rotated forward and down) during travel. Mine stalled on the brake and transmission cables. Probably harmless, but also probably not ideal. I would have preferred a fastening system that offered a more secure fit. I'm having a hard time attaching and reattaching the basket (partly due to cable interference, which I mentioned above); There's no convincing "click" when you deploy it, and I find that sometimes it's out of place and I have to encourage (i.e., push) it. I recommend checking yours to make sure it's fixed. I've also found that the handle on the basket loosens if I turn it too far in any direction. This may be a feature, but I found that this feature popped up spontaneously while driving. It seemed to me that the protrusions holding the wire handle were bent slightly outwards and therefore could not hold the ends of the wire handle tightly. I squeezed them gently and that seemed to mostly solve the problem. I also added some foam insulation bumpers to the top edges of the basket to keep the handle from rotating too far. A small piece of double sided tape will help hold the bumpers in place. Until the problem appeared. As with all of those front baskets, the extra weight on the handlebars affects your steering and causes oversteer. Watch out for sudden movements when heavily loaded and be prepared for the handlebars to pull in the direction you are riding. And be careful when loading the basket when your bike is parked and on the kickstand. If you turn the basket towards the footrest, the bike may fall over. To be safe, rotate it away from the stand. The cart works at least minimally and I use it often. However, the difficulty of reattaching the basket has put me off using it as a shopping basket. I have a feeling the handle design is flawed, although this can be remedied. And I would like a bracket that holds the basket securely in place. These considerations prevent me from strongly recommending it.
