I recently bought plates because I don't like washing dishes. I've been using paper plates for a long time. However, these plates are far superior to any paper plates I have ever used. The best thing about these plates is that I can cut meat, spaghetti or whatever without cutting up the plate. With paper plates, I always bump into the plate. I prefer not to use paper with my food so I am very happy with these plates. Plus, unlike paper plates, these plates can be washed and reused. Simply rinse and dry. They're also durable, which is especially important for kids who don't always forget to carry paper plates with both hands.
