This was a difficult post for me. I Think the quality and price of the hardware is awesome and the idea and quality of the lumber would be awesome with some quality control, but this project was very challenging. Some mistakes I made (ready directions carefully) and several from Smart Standard, so I was really torn if it was me or them that made this so painful. A lot of the blemishes don't show or matter if you plan to stain it, not paint it. There is no excuse for twisted and warped lumber on a door though (see pictures). It might not seem like much, but it's pretty bad. One door is so twisted I had to off set the guide rail at the bottom so the doors would meet in the middle. The Standoffs for the top (main) guide rail was way off the wall. I think a small animal could fit though it (exaggerating, but it was bad). I went to my hardware store and bought a lot of washers and made my own. It's snug against the trim (without touching). Why is the standoff so thick for such a thin door? Good thing I had trim or you could actually fit a small animal through there.I do feel Smart Standard has a good product and has the right intentions but the lumber I received should never left the warehouse. The website and design area (styles of doors, hardware, etc) is really well done. They just need to make some QC adjustments and make sure the dimensions across products are compatible with each other.After several weeks, I don't notice the flaws and I'm thrilled with how it looks and functions. I would recommend buying again, but do a thorough check of the lumber before you get it assembled, so you can send it back.Like hanging any door, there is VERY little room for error. Read the directions VERY carefully. If Smart Standard could manufacture the hardware with some micro adjustment capabilities, it would really stand out from the rest.
