I bought four of these doors and they are so easy to assemble. Each door took about 20 to 30 minutes form unboxing to assembling easy as putting puzzle together. They are light and solid pine all the hardware seen in the pictures were also purchased on Ebay. This barn door was wonderful. It was packaged very well and easy to put together. We noticed that there was some spacing between the boards when we put it together. Although the directions said it was normal and the wood would expand as the days went on, we felt the spacing was too much so we added some double sided tape to the inside groove of one of the long outside board. This went in okay. Not perfectly starlight forward, but overall not bad to install. Looked great the first couple of months, but at about 5 months after install I started noticing splits/cracks in the doors. Now they look horrible and I don’t think they are going to last long. There are cracks and splits everywhere and expect these to last much longer. I’m very disappointed after all these effort put in to stain these, prepare them, and install. Bad, cheap wood.

I was slightly skeptical this would be a sturdy quality door but I purchased one second hand off a marketplace and liked the weight and feel but like a few other reviews said, it was warped.The one I purchased on here is not warped, ok one of the cross pieces was slightly bent, but overall pretty square. This comes assembled, so some chance that parts could be damaged/warped/twisted beyond usefulness. This was our experience, and we had to get replacements. Needed one part replaced that was warped badly. SmartStandard sent second door kit as a replacement, and then we were required to return other door. This was a difficult post for me. I Think the quality and price of the hardware is awesome and the idea and quality of the lumber would be awesome with some quality control, but this project was very challenging. Some mistakes I made (ready directions carefully) and several from Smart Standard, so I was really torn if it was me or them that made this so painful. The door looks beautiful painted barn red and hanging in our living room! The assembly was very easy and solid. The only issue I had was with the screws. The instructions and a video I found show someone using a standard screwdriver like it's a piece of cake. The screws are deeply recessed and are very tough to screw in by hand. There are so many things I like about these doors. 1. The wood is terrific. 2. The parts come wrapped in bubble wrap for protection. 3. Most of the door parts are well manufactured and 4. the doors are relatively easy to put together. I bought one 36" door and five 42" doors. I felt a bit ridiculous spending this much for just precut door bits but given the price of lumber and thee time to sand and measure and cut it all myself I decided to just buy this. I ordered two in order to cordon off a section of our retail honey store. I was leery of the quality, but I just finished assembling the second one and am quite pleased with the result. Given the cost they are quite nice and will finish to look great. Keep in mind that this is not normal native wood. The wood is quite soft so be a bit gentle and careful with the screws. If you go easy you won't have any trouble and will be pleased.

If you are wanting a true finish door, then this is not the door for you. I strained mine. I got all the correct parts, but had to sand every part of all the pieces, and then stain. No problem. I read about the GAP issues, but my door had more gap than I'm comfortable. It was almost 1/4"gap before going into the left side of the door, which has 1/2 space to accommodate the panels. I don't think the wood will expand that much. So I had to take off 3/16 on the 3 cross braces to take up the GAP…

I got the door in November 2020. I painted all the after assembling it. The problem I ran into is that the wood is still fresh and drying. After a few weeks all of the wood planks shrank up to an 1/8” leaving up to a 1/4” gap between planks. I had to remove the diagonal braces and reposition the planks to close the gap. In hindsight I would recommend taking all the wood out of the package and laying them flat on a hard floor and let the wood dry out completely. I would say up to a month. After…

really pay attention to wood, look at pieces along spine for warp, and try to assemble opposingly to correct natural warp--this would be nice to have as a main point on instructions. cause if you just put together and not really pay attention, this door would be a nightmare project. Other than that it really is a gorgeous door- heavy too.

This door is excellent quality. It looks so good and it’s worth every penny. The door has to be put together and stained. That takes time but it was totally worth it.

I put the doors together by myself and it was easy. I’m a capable woman. I will be hanging it shortly. The doors are beautiful and a bargain at the price. I would buy them several times over. The pre-drilled holes were perfect and I had zero issues. It took me about 45minutes. If you have help 30 minutes tops. The quality of the doors were good.

Easy to put together and I had to cut down about 4 inches from the door because of ceiling hight. Wood was straight no warping. Nice for the price. If you’re not handy you’ll probably have to pay someone to put together.
