The boot lid on my 05 Cobalt lifted just enough to get my fingers underneath and was very difficult to lift, but when fully open it stayed there. Upon inspecting the lift legs it was easy to see that one was leaking oil but I ordered a pair just in case and it was cheaper than ordering one from another supplier. The instructions that come with them are essentially useless as they talk about various connection methods that don't apply. I don't think you need to pull the clips on the new ones but I wasn't sure and when I pulled it out on one end it came out crooked and it took some time and effort to straighten it out. The actual process of replacing an elevator took only a few minutes, not counting the time I spent making sure the cover was secure (probably not necessary in this case). After replacing just one side, everything worked. The lid closes tighter than ever and slides out, giving me enough room to slip my fingers underneath. Thanks to the person who said they were too durable in his review and he went back and used an old one. with new.
