Review on ๐Ÿถ ShioSel Bark Collar for Dogs - Small, Medium, Large - Stop Barking with Ultrasound & Safe Shock - Intelligent Anti-Barking Training Device (Black) by Holly Haman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nothing for small breeds, no remote control, not for us!

Background We have 2 small noisy dogs that bark. nothing and everything. Most of the time it's because they hear something outside, but as soon as the kitchen cupboard door is closed, one barks and the other follows. And that at any time of the day or night. It can be annoying when you're spending time in silence, watching a movie, or sleeping. We are not one to use special collars to deter behavior as we pride ourselves on carefully training our pets over the years. But this year we learned that some breeds require special skills that we don't have, so we needed special collars for one of our dogs, an 18 pounder. The smallest, 7 pounder, is well-behaved and a good listener, but he is the loudest and the biggest barker. We can't even interrupt him as he barks and barks until he's convinced he doesn't need to bark. So we considered a soft action bark free collar because of its small size. Shopping There are so many collars, brands, sizes, colors, designs and features to consider. This gave us a headache comparing and deciding which to choose. We didn't need one as aggressive as the one we have for the 18lb RC model. We also didn't want to navigate through another remote control. Obviously this is trial and error as what works for one may not work for the other. Knowing we might still have a long way to go to find the right collar for a 7 pound dog, we purchased the $19.99 Shiosel Bark-Free Small Breed Collar as a starting point. Inflated bubbles, we were confused when we knew it was the collar we ordered but of course it couldn't be as big as the Revain box?! Inside was this tiny box. Of course it couldn't have been a collar, since it must be so much bigger?! It was a collar. And we were a bit disappointed as we expected a better package for $19.99. However, some companies do not do this to keep costs down. However, for $19.99, the packaging should have been better and more pleasing to the eye. In our opinion, less should keep the purchase price low. And we've seen similar collars for less than $10 included in this bundle. According to the listing, this collar has multi-level sonic intensity and an electric shock option. We don't want to shock our dogs, so we hoped we wouldn't need this feature. After unpacking and reading the instructions, we decided to give this collar a try. First things first - this collar is not for small breeds. The collar is too wide for a narrow neck. We have a chihuahua weighing 7 kg. He looked like he was locked in a palisade with that collar on. The strap could wrap around his neck three times! However, it is adjustable and can be trimmed to size. The no-bark box on the collar is too big and puts a strain on his head. He didn't move when asked, we had to carry him. The guide is also a bit difficult to navigate. This is a disadvantage of manufacturing the product in another country where the written instructions are translated. We're familiar with a variety of custom collars for our other 18 pound collars, so figuring out how to set up the collar wasn't difficult. However, it was annoying to adjust the collar while it was on. A pet owner can put on and take off this type of collar so many times trying to adjust before the dog hides and rebels against this new collar device! Since the collar we have for another dog has a remote control, we quickly realized that we were spoiled and this manual collar we just bought wasn't going to be our friend. We gave the collar a day off and tried it again the next day. . First we used the collar on the wrists to adjust and adjust. After finding the right setting by testing it with fake dog barking (which was most annoying at best since we weren't the only ones barking), we reattached the collar to 7lber's neck and waited. He heard a noise, barked, the collar made a corresponding noise, and the dog continued to bark. Fail! We removed the collar, turned the setting up and tried again. Fail. We removed the collar and set it to the highest level. Fail. And eventually went into shock mode. Fail. Our dog barked all the settings, shock mode and in the end we had to cancel the process. We tried this collar every day for 1 week and finally gave up. For now, our patience can only be tested. Conclusion We gave this collar 3 stars for the following reasons: 1- It works. This means if you are lying on a table and two people are talking it will sound like a dog barking. In fact, all household noises set this collar in motion! We had a little fun to be honest. This collar may therefore be suitable for another dog. The collar does something but not for us so we can't give it 1 star or 5.2. Our 7lber is 3 years old and furnished in his own way. He has a personality and isn't afraid to express his displeasure to any of our pets. So maybe he's so stubborn on the subject that the special collar is a silent topic. We plan to try again, but we have no hope. 3- It is winter now and we are spending more time indoors where there is a lot of internal noise that might be too loud for using this training collar. We're mostly interested in outdoor use so we'll wait until spring to try again when there are fewer restrictions and a more open environment so the collar can focus on barking only and not all other household noises, that trigger it. . If we are successful we will edit and update this review. We don't think this collar is as good as our other 18lb collar for the same price and with a remote control. But honestly it might work for another pet but not ours at the moment.
