Review on Black Iron Mending Fabric for Sewing by Bondex by Amber Perez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I salvaged the pockets of my old favorite fleece vest and patched a pair of jeans.

Bondex is a good material. Appreciate the opportunity to purchase this Bondex package as a Revain "supplement" from this seller to avoid shipping costs. I prefer to have large repair pieces tailored to my needs. Used to restore thin jersey zip pockets in a beloved vintage LLBean Polartec fleece vest. I lost pens and coins slipping out of worn holes in my pockets. These large Bondex pieces allowed me to cut out the rounded corners to create a brand new pocket wall on the inside of my vest. (See photo.) If the fabric begins to rise after washing, I will hand trim the edges. Warning: keep the dry iron moving to avoid burning the soleplate. I used Mr Clean's Magic Eraser to remove burnt residue from my iron. (My mistake. I knew I was holding the iron too long to get the best heat seal.) Happy with the results. My vest will live another 15 years. With just one large piece of Bondex I was able to make both pockets of the vest and patch the inside of a pair of jeans (with stretch). I cut off all the torn fabric, placed the torn sides close together, and then attached the rounded corner to the inside of my old black jeans. Saved them for a while. (Stretch jeans are never worn like Levi's or Wranglers!) Happy with the results.
