Review on Hertz Audio Component Speaker DSK165 3 by Bradley Wacks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not very impressive

I was hoping the Hertz speakers would really stand out day and night compared to the JBL GX600 speakers I installed in my son's '97 4runner, but it didn't very. fundamentally a difference. Certainly not for the $170 I spent on it. Don't get me wrong, they sound good, bass is clear even from the Pioneer Avic 7200 main unit driving these speakers, mids are clean and not overwhelming, and there's a fully automatic mode too. - The setup from the head unit (with the right mic to set up the head unit) is pretty good with a perfect center stage from the driver's seat, but I had much higher expectations for these individual components than what I found. Tweets cannot be commented on. As I use an Infinity 1½ silk dome tweeter in each door they are phenomenal for high frequencies and complement these speakers well. I will say the tiny tweeters that came with Hertz components felt really cheap and I didn't bother trying them as my son has Infinity already installed. I might try their higher line when I'm ready to replace my own front speakers in my 4Runner, but that won't be anytime soon.
