Review on πŸ”§ CycloSpirit Derailleur Hanger Alignment Gauge for Perfect Bike Maintenance by Richard Payne

Brilliant tool! Not much more than the cost of multiple switch holders

Love this tool! I feel like a professional bike mechanic, which I clearly am not! Just recently I was trying to control my new mountain bike, came off the loop and fell badly on my butt. The bike collapsed next to the derailleur, bending the derailleur hanger a bit. From that point on, switching sucked. I bent it a bit by hand, adjusted it as best I could and ordered this tool. I watched some videos on the internet and drove into town. I removed the switch and screwed the tool to my hanger. I first checked the 12 o'clock position and adjusted the adjustment knob. I then lowered myself to the 6 o'clock position and it was about 3 inches higher! I bent it back and went back and forth until there was about 2.5mm of space left at positions 12, 3, 6 and 9. I had a 2.5mm hex wrench that fitted nicely between the rim and tool. After I fixed the hanger, I had to readjust the upper and lower limit screws and re-index the gears. Now it turns on flawlessly again, and it really wasn't that hard to do. I can't wait to get into another accident so I can get my bike repaired for free again. It's worth it. Next time my buddies crash their bikes, I'll have 6 more beers to fix their bike like new.
