Used this soldering iron to solder multiple joints on a project shortly after receiving it from Revain. I definitely recommend it as I am very satisfied with its performance. The unique insertion tip is easy to tin and wet solder. The short warm-up time is impressive and corresponds to the manufacturer's specifications. I'm not exactly sure if this iron has all the power of a 60 watt unit as the manufacturer claims, but it's at least equal to, say, forty watts. It's not bad for the price, and you can be assured of enough warmth to flow well over almost every joint. Because of the need for 18W of DC power, I was able to use a small, portable, battery-powered DC-to-AC inverter to run off the grid for a while. Cool. I only see two cons in this product. First, non-standard insertion tips are relatively limited in availability. Second, I'm not too happy with the handle design. You probably don't need a holder as it just sits on the countertop, but the wobbling doesn't give me confidence, the weight of the cord couldn't get the hot iron off the edge of my bench. . However, with only a few negatives and many positives, I can wholeheartedly give the Weller WPS18MP PRO series its rightful place in my electronics lab.
