Review on πŸ”‹ Maxell 723443 Ready-to-go Long Lasting and Reliable Alkaline Battery AA Cell 48-Pack | Flexible Compatibility | Great Value | 48 Count by Paul Romero

If not used immediately they should NOT be used for storage

I buy a lot of batteries, at least 500 a year, for storage and of course in different ones use objects around the house. I bought 4 boxes of these Maxell AA/AAA batteries and although I store them in a dark, cool place I have found that after 1 year they lose their charge significantly. In fact, an old box with a use by date of 7/21/2020 (after 7 months) had 24 dead batteries out of 48 in the sealed box. The voltage ranged from 0.71 to 1.21 volts, and few were that high. Most of them averaged 1.03 volts. You can't rely on that. Also, in this box of 48 batteries, 3 had corrosion on the bottom (see photo). In comparison, Energizer batteries had failed 1 of 96 batteries I've tested to date at peak usage, and all of the Energizer lithium tests were well above their ratings. I prefer long-life Duracell batteries because about every 300 batteries will fail and they rarely leak compared to others. FYI I currently have over 4,000 batteries in stock and regularly dispose of them. These Maxell batteries can be useful if used right away, but they don't depend on you in the long run. There's nothing worse than needing new batteries during a storm/power outage and they're dead. I am generous in my 2 star rating, one star for value for money if used immediately.
