Not quite sure which is best here as I like both the alarm clock and the night light. The night light cycles through a very nice muted rainbow of colors. It is not so bright that the child does not sleep. But it's bright enough to add a glow to the room. I had to read the instructions a few times to understand all the features. I'll admit that while I'm not a programming expert, I was able to figure out all the features and go through all the settings to choose what I wanted. I was able to set the time, set the date including the year, day of the week and date. I could choose the alarm music and snooze duration. You can turn off the night light with the switch on the bottom of the clock. If you have it in off mode, you can turn it on at night just by pressing the top of the clock. If you turn it on, I think it will stay on indefinitely. The only thing I would like to change about it is the way the alarm is turned off. To switch off, you can press one of the buttons that you use to set the clock. However, they are all located at the bottom of the alarm. The alarm will turn off automatically after one minute. So for the baby you're trying to wake up, not being able to turn it off very quickly could be an added bonus. The alarm clock itself is not very loud, it does not wake up the whole family. It is actually suitable for a child in their own bedroom.
