I had to go down about 15 rows to fix a mistake I later found in a bottom up scarf where the garter stitch part of the short row at the top was crocheted followed. I simply took a thread from the stitch below, creating a fold that became visible. Being a garter knitter, I've had to keep changing my repair hook, holding it in front of work, behind work (or continuing to turn work myself), both of which are no-yarn recipes. Someone on Ravelry said to take a double ended hook so everything is done on one side, just slide the hook back and grab the next strand on the way. Not wanting to invest in a huge set but needed sizes compatible with finer and heavier yarns I bought this little set of 3. What almost stopped me is that the close-up of the photo made me think the hooks themselves were sticking out too far (not enough curve towards the neck) that would have caught other strands too easily. They are made of ebony so I took an emery board and filed the tip of the hook very, very carefully, just a little (I mean maybe 5 very soft passes, and with very little pressure). This cleaned up the edge and rounded out that tiny sharp edge. These three sizes are great for mending almost any weight of thread, from extra fine point to extra heavy worsted (probably even bulky).
