I'm not a pro or an expert, I just started MTB last year. However, I wanted to buy pedals with more grip, but didn't want to buy twice if I ever decide to go without clips. So I bought these Doubleshot 3 pedals. I have to say it takes a while to get used to. Especially when your foot comes off the pedal. You can step on the wrong side until you figure it out when your foot comes off. I ride them cross country so my foot sometimes comes off the flat side when going down rocky terrain. I've found that when your foot comes off, you keep pedaling with the foot that's still pinched and the other side twists back to meet your foot in the correct position. I don't know if that's the trick or if I'm just used to it becoming just muscle memory. I just figured out how to get my foot back and get used to them. I like the ability to make them tighter by unscrewing the flat side. The small screws give me more grip and it has helped me not to lose my footing. Perhaps the next step will be to improve shoes with flat soles or without clips.
