Review on Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD Lens: Large Aperture Standard Zoom for Canon DSLR - International Version (No Warranty) by Mura Mura Chun ᠌

The quality is terrible and the product is not what it says it is.

Acquired, desired by some evaluations, expensive, and having a low aperture ratio. Regretted. I am truly sorry! The lens is not even close to being in the correct position! The least reliable of all the relatives that are currently available (even very budget ones). When purchasing, the item was examined on the table. There was not a single problem. But it wasn't until then that I realized how autofocus can be off not only because of the distance to the target, but also because of the focal lengths! At 50 mm, the front is more obvious, but the back is more pronounced at 17 mm. Only in the vicinity of 35 millimeters does it hit. that is, the factory does not particularly bother with adjustment (strange, given that the glass is made in Japan), hence the low cost. I did not take the time to note that the speed of focusing is substantially faster than lenses that do not have USM. Moreover, the rotating focus ring almost always destroys the lens. It should be pointed out that it is located exactly where the hand rests when shooting, which is the reason why the lens squeaks piteously and risks having a copper basin placed over it. In addition, it was discovered that everything with the Sigma service is in a very poor state (I live in Hong Kong), and I will need to submit it for adjustment along with the carcass for at least a month! Vobschem dissatisfied . what it is that you do not want! Only local glasses will do! Only if the service is good enough!

Pros
  • Affordable, robust and sturdy appearance, decently solid overall appearance (as it seemed at first)
