Review on Friencity USB 3.0 Hub Ethernet with USB C Adapter - High Speed 3 Port USB Splitter Gigabit for MacBook, Mac Pro/Mini, iMac & More by Eduardo Purewal

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The USB 3.0 ports work at full speed, but the Gigabit Ethernet port does NOT.

I have used several of these adapters and have been in IT for 22 years. Although the device indicates a Gigabit Ethernet connection when connected, the maximum file copy speed is 38-40 megabytes per second. I tested on several systems with USB 3.0 ports, both Mac and Windows 10, the result is the same. The ethernet port supports gigabit speeds, but something happens when the adapter transfers data between the ethernet port and the USB connection to the computer. That being said, when I connect a USB 3.0 SSD to a SATA 3.0 to USB port. or a fast USB stick into one of the adapter's three USB ports, I can copy files at full speed to my system, which also has fast storage and PCIe solid state. My Sandisk Extreme USB stick was able to copy at over 200 megabytes per second, so the adapter appears to have full USB 3.0 capable expansion ports and a valid USB 3.0 connection to the computer, but with ethernet it looks like one Chipset for the It cannot carry a Gigabit Ethernet connection at full speed.

Pros
  • nice touch
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
