This thing is pretty amazing. This COMPLETELY drowned out any searching noises my Seagate IronWolf 8Tb was constantly making. Even when I wasn't using this drive, it was loud as hell. It's not my startup drive, and it's not even one of the main drives in my project. But he doesn't shut up. Unfortunately, this product does not prevent the drive from making a constant spinning noise. It will NEVER stop spinning so even with this silencer I still get a PERMANENT whirring noise. It only protects against vibration noise, unfortunately not so much against acoustic noise. Apparently this drive isn't designed to stop spinning (no APM function), I need to find another drive, put it in an enclosure, or manually disable it somehow.
