This heater works well as a heater but I have had a terrible experience with it. It does NOT have a safety feature like most aquarium heaters and will NOT stop heating when there is no more water. So when I vacuumed my tank the water level dropped a bit, it started smoking and burning the plastic that was holding it and the decorations. It was my fault for not checking or disabling it, just wanting to warn you. I bought another one with a standard fuse that just shuts off unless submerged in water. Much safer.
