Let's start with the positives: very cheap and high torque. I bought my John Deere 318 used so I've never heard of it running with a new starter. Apparently the old man was very tired. The difference was absolutely day and night. Coming to the negative: I bought this starter in January and installed it right away. Around mid-June, the starter does not separate from the flywheel. When removed, the pinion gear will snap onto the end of the starter shaft and will not back out. New starter! I am currently finding it difficult to take advantage of the one year warranty. I think I blame Revane now. If I can get a warranty part I'll try again. Otherwise. Good luck with your purchase! I hope that was helpful.
