I had to block access from the hallway to other rooms so that my puppy wouldn't have an accident on the carpet. It worked great on day one until she realized she could knock him off his feet. She is under 5 pounds! As she threw him to the ground, her head went through the flower slats. I was afraid it might get stuck, but I pulled it out easily. The gates are made quite strong and have sufficient thickness. It has some weight but not enough when a puppy or adult dog wants to walk the other way. She jammed in my hall and she hasn't blown her mind since. For now it is working to keep my pup out of the restricted areas. Now she just sits and looks at me as I move to other rooms. She stopped trying to trip him up. So far this is working for what I intended. The gate is also decorative so it will add some emphasis to my decor rather than being ugly and obtrusive.
