Review on πŸ“Ά Belkin N600 DB F9L1101 Wireless Dual-Band USB Adapter - High-Speed up to 300Mbps (Black) by Jamal Gerrero

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OK for Windows. not suitable for Linux (Ubuntu 12.10)

I received a slightly different version of this product with a blue LED (F9L1102v) as opposed to the green LED (F9L1101v) shown in the picture. The differences also extend to the chipset - apparently there are two versions - model numbers F9L1101v and F9L1102v. The 2v uses a RealTek chipset which I got. The product worked perfectly on Windows - I didn't even have to install the driver from the CD. On Linux, it's a whole different story. I've spent a lot of time using ndiswrapper and also compiling Realtek binaries (they have one on their site for Linux). I just couldn't get it to work. Called Belkin support to see if they have Linux drivers. Although the support rep helped answer my questions, Belkin didn't have Linux drivers. I ended up returning the product and purchasing another wireless USB receiver from thinkpenguin.com.

Pros
