Works without drivers on macOS Mojave

Mid 2015 Macbook Pro with 10.14.6 Mojave. Bought to record NTSC VHS (1987) and Hi8 cassettes. If you are using QuickTime X as a source, you can select the UVC interface. QT Record Movie Options: Quality: High and Maximum. High quality MOV AVC 640 x 480 30.0 fps with one channel AAC 256 Kbps 48 KHz audio. Max made MOV ProRes 720x576 25.0 fps with a PCM 96KHz 16bit audio channel. 25 fps is PAL, not NTSC, and it's useless to me. I tried OBS Studio. I could choose between 640 x 480, 352 x 288 (1/4 PAL size), 320 x 240 and High (720 x 576 PAL). I chose 640x480 at 30 fps. If I wanted to go to DVD it should be 704x480 for NTSC. The quality from my new Hi8 (S-Video) is fine, but my old VHS (S-Video) does not color sync. I would end up with an image with bands of swirling rainbow colors. Sometimes it blocked and then returned to the rainbow. Not usable unless I agreed to use the OBS filter and shoot in black and white. I've never tried this device on Windows, so I've never tried the Windows recording/editing software that came on the CD either.

Pros
  • To convert VHS to DVD or capture video from TV DVD VCD CCTV VCR DVR VHS camcorders and game consoles (Xbox360, ps2/3, Wii, etc. that support AV/S-Video output products) and to share them on video sites like Youtube, Facebook etc.
Cons
  • Blank
