Review on 🔥 VCT Heavy Duty Fiberglass Welding Blanket and Cover: 4FT. x 6FT., Brass Grommets Included by Tyrone Lee

Initially unpacked this proved to be a good heavy duty sweat blanket: tightly woven, double stitched plus the grommets were securely fastened. All in all, the price seemed reasonable and I gave it four stars. However, after using it once as a welding blanket, my first assessment turned out to be very wrong: the glass fiber fabric is thick and fireproof, but does not capture any welding spatter at all (see photo). The spatter melts through the top layer of fiberglass and delaminates the fibers. A few splashes even melted through both layers. Also, when shaken after use, the fabric pulled out of one of the eyelets. Traces of tears in the fabric can also be seen in other places along the seams. And all this after a single use: a few minutes of light cored wire welding at home, with the usual and typical spatter of this process, nothing "industrial". if you handle it carefully so as not to pull the fabric out of the grommets. But it's not a "heavy" product at all, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it for welding. I am changing my rating to 2 stars and returning it. Need to spend more money and use high temperature felt or carbon fiber cover.
