Bought to insulate the smoker in the winter

Bought to use as an insulating cover on my Traeger smoker in the winter to keep in heat. I'll find out on Thanksgiving when I cook the turkey.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I'll write later

High quality. The best protective gear

Pleasantly surprised at the quality at this price point. Well sewn, no fraying, dense fabric. For those complaining of burnout; Note that glass melts at around 1400°C and steel at around 2500°C. So molten steel can naturally melt fiberglass if given the chance.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Low maintenance

I use it on my pellet grill

I have a Traeger pellet grill and use it to keep the temperature constant. Great. Yesterday it was 35 degrees windy in NE Pennsylvania and the grill stayed at 400 with an issue.

Pros
  • this is amazing
Cons

Pellet Grill Heat Shield

Suitable for covering my pellet grill when cooking. I folded it up to fit the top and sides of the grill, then used an old painter's cloth as a blanket to keep the temperature consistent. It worked great. Much cheaper than the grill company's thermal blankets.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • I'll keep quiet

Fiberglass sweat blanket

We used it on a smoker we bought. The first time we used a smoker it was high 60s, low 70s. The smoker struggled to stay at the recommended temperature. This blanket helped the smoker to keep the right temperature. We just throw it on the smoker. On days with higher temperatures we have no problem.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Smoker Solution: Welding Gear

I can't cook but I love to smoke! I bought this on recommendation to keep warm while smoking in the winter. I just throw it over the smoker and it reduces the effect of wind and cold on the smoker. Doesn't burn and has that wonderful smoky flavor as soon as I take it out of the bag for the next smoke.

Pros
  • 100% FIRE RETARDANT: A heavy duty, general purpose welding blanket to protect against property damage from sparks and spatter
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Ideal as a grill cover to keep warm

I don't use this blanket for its intended purpose but it does so much more. My grill loses an incredible amount of heat when it's cold outside and the sweat blanket retains that heat like nothing else I've tried. The outer layer stays cool so I don't burn myself when I touch the lid. The price is perfect for the purpose.

Pros
  • OPERATING TEMPERATURE: up to 537°C (1000°F)
Cons
  • Piggy Bank Price

Initially unpacked this proved to be a good heavy duty sweat blanket: tightly woven, double stitched plus the grommets were securely fastened. All in all, the price seemed reasonable and I gave it four stars. However, after using it once as a welding blanket, my first assessment turned out to be very wrong: the glass fiber fabric is thick and fireproof, but does not capture any welding spatter at all (see photo). The spatter melts through the top layer of fiberglass and delaminates the fibers…

Pros
  • REINFORCED SURFACE: 3/8" ID brass grommets every 11" for secure and easy hanging
Cons
  • New Competitors
