Great starter kit - started a hobby

I bought this kit a few months ago but am still waiting to write a review. OK, what's the catch? This is a good starter kit. I knew nothing about leathercraft but wanted to make some leather knife sheaths for Christmas gifts (they were much appreciated). Some of the items that come with the kit are just fillers, like sandpaper, a thimble, and leather finger cases. .stamps are good. I highly recommend getting the right punch hammer. Do not use a metal hammer to punch - you will damage (or break) the stamp. I ended up buying other brands from Tandy and they are about the same. Chisels - I use them a lot and they sew holes very well. The hand sewing awl is my favorite tool. I used a Speedy Stitcher but found it fit my hand better. Unfortunately, this kit does not include the buffing tools you will want to use to buff the edges when sewing leather. :(Overall I'm very happy with this set. It's helped me get into the sport and I'm really learning a lot. I recommend spending some time on YouTube to learn about leatherworking as you craft things. With In this set I made 2 sheaths for knives, 2 pistol holsters and a rifle sling (not bad for a beginner). One thing you really need is a sewing pony. You can make one yourself (like I did) or buy one here at Revane.
