Fantastic head unit held back by a chunky companion mobile app

This is an excellent unit that beats the Wahoo Bolt and Garmin Edge 530 I've bought in terms of price and features . I ultimately went with it due to quality issues with the Bolt (v2) and the touchscreen/phone setup compared to the Edge 530. I haven't had any issues with the main unit and am very happy with my decision. After each ride the data is automatically synced to the Bryton Active and I have no problem updating the firmware (with the latest firmware R059.013.0005). Battery life is good as I rode 60 miles (3.5 hours) with speed/cadence, HR and radar sensors using GPS+QZSS+Galileo as the GNS setting and battery gauge showed no drop. Everything else is set by default (screen brightness, backlight, etc.). The screen's default brightness is fine for me, as I can read well both in bright sunlight and on a street covered by thick tree overhangs. I also like a graphical interface (e.g. a donut or bar) that displays data differently than a traditional head unit. In combination with the Garmin Varia RTL515, the audible and visual alarms are timely and I hear loud beeps (2 beeps when a vehicle is detected, 1 beep). passing vehicle is followed by 1 additional beep if nothing is detected). With the latest firmware I don't find any problems with system lag. It's responsive enough for me to drive, but I see a problem with drivers getting used to the latest phone and the instant information that this head unit's "pace" might be slower than usual. I drive 95% with just one side. The only nagging issue with the main unit itself is side scrolling to view the data field, but I use the bottom right button for scrolling, so I don't find any touchscreen scrolling while driving. On the other hand, the companion mobile app is something else, it's great for setting up the main unit on the phone, but if you want to use the mobile app for route planning, I highly recommend using the 3rd app. Party and then export a GPX or link a profile (like Komoot) to save yourself the frustration and headache of using Bryton's native navigation app. The app is definitely not as good as the competition. I'm using Android and experienced a "tailored maps" update. Otherwise, the app fulfills its purpose and the overall package is hard to beat in the competition.
