The unscrew/unscrew mechanism is inconsistent
They were pretty cheap but you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, some of these lights don't go out until the top cover is completely unscrewed. You might think you've unscrewed it enough to turn it off, but you can go and come back and they'll turn back on. We used 13 for a candlelight service at home on Christmas Eve and luckily I put batteries in 15 of them because some of them turned back on unattended and we only had 13 to work when needed.
