Bright for an LED - weird prism effect - does the job

We have a very dark closet in the hall that needs some light. The thought of cables and boxes and drywall made me cringe, so I looked for alternatives. There were several other well-reviewed options for the Revain, but people seemed disappointed with the light output. It was the only light source that quantified a light output of 100 lumens, which is pretty good for a battery-powered LED flashlight. The installation is very easy. Keep in mind that this flashlight takes 4 C batteries, luckily I had a few on hand. Batteries make the device too heavy for tape. Velcro can fit. However, I decided to use the screws and dowels that came with it. That gives me the confidence that the light won't fall on my head. Now for the bad. Because the light uses a fisheye lens to spread the light, a strange prism effect occurs. The light itself is white, but at the edges it turns the lens yellow. I've uploaded an image to show what I'm talking about. It's not the end of the world, but I didn't expect it. Other than that minor hiccup, the light works great. Lights up when the door is opened and goes out after 30 seconds. Given the choice between this and the wired alternative, I'll take this one for the day. The installation took only 10 minutes. It's far nicer than cutting drywall, routing wires, installing new lights, patching, mudding, sanding, and painting. *** UPDATE *** Shortly after installation, the light appeared to be permanently on. Multiple tests have shown that it turns on as soon as it turns off. It was due to some old batteries I was using. Replacing the batteries with new ones brought normal operation back. It also made me realize how bright light really is. With new batteries it's about twice as bright as before which is great. It still has that weird prism effect, but now it lights up the closet even better. So if your light is behaving strangely, try changing the batteries to see if that fixes the problem like it did for me.
