As with other low ratings, the disc will now not be read. Same message as other reviews. 3.5 inch drive not recognized. This morning I transferred a file from my old computer to a 3.5 inch floppy disk. Now the drive won't even let me insert a disc. Does the disc only go partially? 01/29/2020: I have updated my rating for this article. The problem I was having may not have been solely due to the drive but was partly due to the drive I was using. Frustrated that the drive wasn't working, I got frustrated and ripped it apart. Inside I found the problem. Apparently one of the hard drives I was using lost its protective shield and blocked access to the internal media. Somehow the drive had loosened its protective shield and got stuck in the mechanism. This prevented me from inserting another disc. The drive is now reading the disc. I'm not sure why I didn't notice that the hard drive was corrupt because it stopped working a while ago. My recommendation: Most discs have a metal slider. Do not use discs with plastic screens. I'm not sure why I'm getting the "can't format disk" error.
