Not well designed for preschoolers. My 4-yo loves puzzles and does really well with 100-piece puzzles. The small pieces on this one are not really a great size for kids her age, but she does okay with it. The picture is great, so she does come back to it and plays it from time to time. She can solve it and likes to play with it, hence not a one-star review. BUT, for any kid who isn't already puzzle-crazy, this thing is going to be quite frustrating, because lots of the 48 pieces have the exact same shape, so it's really easy to make a mistake and keep going without realizing it, having to backtrack several pieces later. That's fine for adults or older kids, but not much fun for little ones. This puzzle could have been great were it not for the lazy design.
