I have recently started sewing. All the tutorials I watched made me want to buy a disc cutter. I bought my first one in a hurry and chose it mainly for the color and because it was readily available at the local store. It was terrible. It was difficult to cut straight, and he rarely cut through two miserable layers of 100% cotton. A woman at a fabric store recommended I buy an olfa and explained that in her few years there she only had 2 customers returning olfas. It was only $10 so I thought I might try another brand and I love it! I tried to cut 4 layers of 100% cotton and everything went smoothly. The blade is sharp and makes precise cuts. I also like the safety mechanism. This makes it very easy to remove the blade when not in use, so I don't have to worry about cutting myself (my first circular knife slipped off my finger---I'm clumsy, okay).
