I don't like these wicks. They don't last as well as the ones that came with the moisturizer. They become very soft and sink to the bottom of the humidifier, reducing its effectiveness. In addition, they are very fragile and, despite careful handling during cleaning, wear out and break over time, which also reduces their effectiveness. During the winter, I turn my humidifier on 24 hours a day and wash my humidifier and wicks weekly. Never bleach or put in hot water. I was lazy and wanted them to clean up quickly, big mistake. Now I soak them in warm water and a cup of distilled vinegar for several hours until all the minerals (brown-yellowish-pink deposits) and algae are gone, as per the instructions. Daily, as I filled the tanks, I turned these filters so that the dry and crusted part fell into the fresh water. This seems to help them stay clean for a few more days. Frustrated with how fragile and flexible they are, I decided to experiment. I bought one of Honeywell's round humidifier filters at my local supermarket. I cut it in half and it fits this Vornado humidifier. Metal is woven into the fibers of Honeywell filters to help them stand up. It worked until the end of winter and they are still fine.
