Review on Cardone 21 5271 Remanufactured Power Steering by Nicholas Suave

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Whining like a bunch!

Pump installed. Insert a new Mercon V and deflate several times by twisting the latch until it stops. Whining like a bunch! I was hoping this would go away with use as more air was removed, but it didn't. Looks like my pump is worn out. As a mechanic, I'm pretty sure they put new gaskets in, but NOT the pump vanes! Took me about 3 hours to swap them out and it was PITA. Not sure if I have the option to return the Revain but will have to put up with the bad pump noise for a few weeks before I have time to replace it again. Note to installers: be careful and very careful even with short suction and discharge lines. It's just a pump. You'll have to reuse your old ones, but they come with a new suction line o-ring. The penstock is a special short rigid steel pipe with reverse flare fittings at each end, which may or may not be reused. (Should be new in my opinion!) The tip of the thread twisted when I ripped it apart and damaged the threads when I pulled it off! Be sure to mark the home position/orientation with a marker before removing it. You won't be able to reach it once it's installed on the car, so you better hope it's positioned correctly and you've tightened it with no leaks! Otherwise you will have to disassemble everything and start over!
