For what you pay. - my new review

.these are not bad.Purpose: I bought these for the sake of having a pair of minimalist/zero drop heel shoes to wear in the gym. I do not run in them, but rather lift weights/calisthenics, elliptical trainers, and some HIIT work. Not a whole lot of lateral work but they handles forward movement, jumping, and quick starts/stops just fine.Look: Not quite as goofy-looking as Vibram Five Fingers, but I wouldn't wear these about town. ;)Fit: Given that I wasn't planning to wear these with socks and wanted a slightly tighter fit than my everyday footwear, I read some of the prior reviews and decided on buying a size below what I typically buy. This worked for me - my feet have enough room but just enough, and as a result there is no slippage as I go about my workout. The mesh top is breathable and allows your foot to move freely while keeping the shoe securely in place. The lacing is easy to adjust and once you have it where you want it you won't need to fiddle with it again. The Velcro strap is a little goofy looking but it does serve to secure the shoe to your foot and minimize lateral slippage.Durability: I am writing this review a month in. So far I see some of the top layer of the sole's finish coming off, otherwise no discernable wear. Will these hold up for runners or those engaged in more demanding activities than I do? Couldn't say.Overall: It's hard to complain about anything with this shoe given the price. I may come back and edit this review if I start to see anything coming apart but for now it is a decently styled shoe (for the gym) that fits well and provides you with a more minimalist feel than your basic sneaker. Haven't noticed any horrible odor from the material interacting with sweat but we'll see if that changes. All in all? Not a bad purchase.Final note: If you take the advice to go down a size I recommend making sure your toenails (particularly your pinky toe's) are properly trimmed to avoid them catching on the shoe's fabric. Not pleasant!

Pros
  • It's a 40$ shoe what's to expect.
Cons
  • Minimalist design can cause blisters and calluses
