I LOVE this device. We've done a lot of home projects, but I've always used an old-school tape measure, which has its problems. We decided to purchase this device to measure our odd shaped garden so we can plant a new lawn. This requires more than 20 measurements. Our tape measure wasn't even long enough so we had to use string and then measure the string to get the measurements. We bought a laser range finder and today I tested it. I have read the entire manual, which I recommend you do so that you understand all the functions. I love that it can measure area and volume, and the Pythagorean measurement is awesome! You can use it to measure the height of something that doesn't have a clear point for the laser to reflect. Just measure the top from afar and then the bottom of what you're trying to measure and bam you've got the height. The device comes with 2 AAA batteries so you can test it right away. It even stores up to 19 past measurements, and there's a function to add or subtract previous measurements for you! I tested it in my garden in places where I already had measurements and it was accurate! The only downside I've seen so far is that when the sun shines on the point you're trying to measure (especially if you're further away) you get an error message saying the signal is too strong . weak. That's a shame for me because I need it specifically for outdoor use. If you are looking for a laser range finder, the price is great, the device is feature rich and accurate. I highly recommend. Happy with my purchase.
