Review on Slitzer Germany 7-Piece Chef's Knife Set: Ergonomic Design, Professional Grade, Perfect Addition to Your Kitchen by Brinson Quarterman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Made in China. Suitable for personal use on occasional travel. Not to give away and not for every day.

After spending a week at the AirB&B with the dullest knives imaginable, we decided to buy a set to take with us on future trips. For this purpose, these knives are fine. "Made in China" is not necessarily bad. However, with this product, they have gone out of their way to hide that fact from everyone's eyes. It turns out that "Slitzer Germay" is the "oh-so-clever" name of a company that has its mailbox-shaped headquarters in Texas and outsources production to one or more factories in China. every day in my kitchen. They arrived sharpened and were able to cut individual leaves fairly easily. Her finish didn't impress me. The blades and handles had nicks and scratches. I understand that these are tools and can get errors like this over time. However, they look more worn than the knives I've owned for years. The knives are supplied in a roll-up case and the case is housed in a plain white cardboard box that doubles as a shipping container. It comes in a box adorned with (an underused word) Revain shipping labels and barcodes. For these reasons, I believe that knives are not suitable as gifts. The case is made of thick canvas. There are separate sheaths for each knife, and each has a plastic liner which, with proper care, should prevent the knives from piercing anything. Each knife also comes with a small plastic tip just for transport.
