I bought these because I was moving across state lines and needed to keep all my firearms in cases for long periods of time. I've heard many horror stories about foam gun cases ruining guns that have been stored in them for a long time because the foam actually traps moisture on the metal and corrodes it. Knowing my guns would need to be stored in these cases for over 2 weeks I didn't want to risk the humid summer air so I bought them and put one in each pistol case and a few in each rifle case. All weapons survived the journey completely undamaged and no one could tell that they had been in the styrofoam warehouse for 2 weeks. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but considering how expensive firearms are (and in some cases impossible to replace, like my Class III items), getting these little plastabs is cheap insurance. Now that I've moved in, I use them in my bedside gun cabinets to keep the contents safe since I don't have the motorized heating rods that my gun safe has.
