We have an outdoor bronze swan statue that we feel has sentimental value and was accidentally dropped this spring. One of the legs broke where it was joined in the foundry. I tried gas soldering it, but even after preheating it with Rosebud, the mass of the sculpture soaked up the heat and I couldn't make a good bond with the soldering rod and flux. I bought a roll of this silicon bronze and switched my MIG welder to pure argon. First used the steel setting .035/1/8" then played around with the settings from there to tweak it. I was able to quickly glue the gap and then fill in the chamfer I added to both pieces. Very manageable. between brushed through passages to remove carbon Had a small fan to remove obnoxious fumes After sanding and restructuring the repair, I mixed a solution of blue vitriol and water, heated the bronze with a propane torch, and applied the solution to the statue, to renew them -patina.
