Not a good start. I have built a new PC from scratch (3rd in the last 2 months) and replaced a defective Seagate 3TB with a Toshiba 8TB. I spent 2 days copying data from backups and merging data from multiple sources. The system runs Windows 10 Pro on an Asus Crossfire Formula VIII (Ryzen) motherboard. I've found that the Toshiba drive disappears when the computer goes to sleep, when the computer wakes up, and only comes back after the computer restarts. I have 4 other internal (non-USB) hard drives installed (a mix of Seagate and Western Digital) and they work fine. I've also tried swapping out cables from a known good drive and the problem is with the Toshiba drive, not the cable. I've tried everything I can think of including setting the BIOS to allow the drive to be hot-plugged. My workaround for now is to never put the computer to sleep. I plan to call Toshiba support tomorrow morning to see what's going on.
