Altex started its operations in 1992 in Piatra Neam, Neam district. Dan Ostahie, one of Romania's most famous entrepreneurs, borrowed $ 10,000 from a bank and began importing second-hand televisions from Switzerland. TVs imported from Switzerland were then repaired and then sold, among other things, by clothing and household goods. Then in 1993, Dan Ostahie opened his first home appliance store on the Altex network.
1994-1997: Altex continues to develop its store network and opens more than 50 outlets in all major cities across the country.
2000: Altex is born after Dan Ostahie decides to outsource services. The Altex team then included a store network, an 8TIM logistics and transportation company, and a wholesale distribution company Italromtex.
2001: The Altex business is restored and the company opens 22 new stores.
2002: Altex finishes the year with 62 stores.
2003: Altex explodes and the company leads the way in the retail sale of Romanian electronics and household appliances, which grossed more than € 136 million.
2004: Altex launches the Media brand, which is becoming the largest Galaxy Media store. The first Media Galaxy store has opened in Bucharest.
