Update: The gun was sent back because now it won't even burn with firewood. Maybe I need to spend more money and buy a better kit. So I was very excited to receive this post as I was making a new cutting board for my relatives and wanted to personalize it. I've never used a heat gun so I knew I had to learn, but the design of this gun makes it harder than it needs to be. First, the heat control is at its worst ever. It's close to the gun and I keep bumping into it while I'm working. I had to glue the handle because it regulated my temperature every time I came in contact with it. Too bad that one of the coolest features has turned into the biggest headache. The second problem I encountered was maintaining a constant heating temperature. Once you heat it up and cook it, it burns wood well, but within a second or two the tip cools and resets your momentum. Because of this I have inconsistent coloring in some places. If you really take your time, the work turns out fine, but it's harder than it should be. I haven't had any issues with tip breakage as others have mentioned, but I do have other issues.
