. time with this review because I really wanted to like this product

I took my time with this review because I really wanted to like this product. So here are my pros and consPro's:1) It does it's job as a place mat. It keeps food from my 4 year olds always moving spoonful of food, off the table.2)It provides great teachable moments given the fact that it's a map of the US and lists all the capitals of states (I'm learning here too people.elementary school was a looooong time ago)Con's1) It is not skid resistant. It wiggles around as much as my kid does, but the back feels slightly tacky, so it should stick to my table2)It's not very durable. After having it only a few short weeks, scratches appeared on the surface. After having it a few months, there are even more scratches all over it now interfering with the elemental designs. Even though I wash it in warm water with the gentle side of the sponge scratches still appear. In short, I would not recommend this product, not for the price they are charging. It gets three stars from me, but only because it completes its most basic function as a placemat, otherwise I'd give it two stars. You can get a placemat from the dollar store that does the same job as this one for a lot less money. It may even do the job better because they do sell ones that are slip resistant. You probably wont find one with a map on it, but just print out your own map and teach from that. Definitely not worth the $ here.

Pros
  • Good quality!
Cons
  • Takes away from hands-on learning experiences
