Lots of good ideas, critical points

This product advertised many good features: - Color display - Emissivity control - High/Low alarm - I like that it requires AA above 9V. However, many of these items don't work in practice - the color screen doesn't have a backlight, which is typical of cheaper models - I've had some experience with expensive thermal imaging cameras and the emissivity correction doesn't work with them AT ALL. The displayed temperature should increase, not decrease, as you decrease the emissivity. The HIGH/LOW readings seem normal in Celsius, but the minimum reading in Fahrenheit is 220(?). To the right. The reading is a few degrees higher at about 70 and about 10 degrees lower at 30. Cheaper models read my living room wall next to my thermostat pretty accurately, about 10 degrees lower. Good ideas in theory, but inaccurate readings and buggy software/conversions convinced me to write a cautionary review lest you all stay away. My cheaper models have performed better than this compared to more expensive models.

Pros
  • Infrared thermometer
Cons
  • Very expensive
