The quality of these aftermarket ring grates is many times below the original equipment cost. The glossy black finish is durable. I broke a couple of lugs on the factory chrome rings when removing, I ended up breaking 1 lug on the new black rings when installing, but that didn't seem to cause any problems. I can confirm they can be replaced without removing the bumper/grille trim. But it was painful and lasted several hours. If I had the right 90 degree drill tool it would probably make things easier. What makes the replacement really difficult is that the standard mounts are a flat head Philips head and it is not possible to push down the Philips head in a confined space to remove or install them. After a tedious removal process, I purchased some hex flange screws that made installation easier with a ratchet wrench. I'm very happy with how they look once installed, we'll see how well the finish holds up over time.
