Your cell phone can only dream of such good sound

I have tried Bluetooth headsets of various quality and price ranges in the past, but I have always been disappointed. The narrowband Bluetooth audio codec makes it difficult for me to hear and be heard, and the ones I've tested add annoying latency. Try Savi, which uses DECT instead of Bluetooth, and it changes the world. Instead of being chained to my desk with a wired microphone or short-range headset, I can now get up and walk around anywhere in the house. The battery lasts me about six hours of continuous use. But it's not just about range and talk time, ease of use also matters. I find the Savi to be quite comfortable to wear throughout its battery life, although the one-ear option doesn't feel particularly secure. The headset has noise cancellation that works well in air-conditioned rooms with fans loud enough to kill my laptop's internal microphone. I even got in my car and drove ten feet before the caller noticed - all because I lost the connection. All of this means I'm free to move and do things when I'm on the phone. ---without worrying about transmitting a lot of noise. This makes long conversations more pleasant and natural. When you combine it with a high-quality 1080p webcam, it will be better than it really is. In terms of cons, the mute button is a little hard to press and the hardware up/down buttons don't work. seems to change the volume a lot. You can further adjust the volume on your computer just like any other audio device. The audio is on par with very good landline phone service, which makes sense given the DECT internals. However, if you want to listen to music or movies, it's probably better to buy a device that's designed for that purpose. The headset is fully compatible with Linux, although in Ubuntu 13.04 a few lines need to be added to the xorg.conf file to make it work properly. I don't know how the Savi compares to other high quality wireless headsets, but it was absolutely worth every penny.
