Review on πŸ”₯ Boost Performance with the MSD 8207 Blaster Ignition Coil by Jay Chenier

The only way for some of us!

I bought this to solve a problem I was having on my '87 Plymouth which had a HEI ignition replaced and the ballast resistor removed. Constant full 12 volts on the canister's oil coil would heat it up and let the car sit if it got too hot (about 30-40 minutes of running time). These Blaster SS coils are a great solution for people like me installing HEI style ignition where HEI has no earthly meaning (like on a Mopar, Jeep or Ford). Takes all 12V on the go and delivers more power to the distributor. My car starts, idles and runs much better. The advantage was the small size and ease of installation of the coil itself, and high-quality connectors (brass, brass, BRASS) are just a godsend. It's made in China but has better specs than a cheap eBay reel. If you're running an HEI or a Ford TFI that's been swapped out for something that's never had one, do yourself a favor and grab a Blaster SS. This works with or without the MSD Ignition Controller. In my case, 12V goes to the coil, and hot and ground wires go from the coil to the VEI - that's all (well, the coil wire to the distributor cover). Very happy with the design and quality of this product and it did what I needed. The only thing I can't speak to at the moment is durability and reliability as I only have about two hours/20 miles on it. If it's as reliable and durable as it looks I think I'll be fine.
