This is an excellent tool that accurately detects even the presence of low voltage. For example, I had a ground wire that was slightly live (around 12V) and it recognized that. It also detects voltage through thick layers of insulation, drywall, and outlet/switch covers. Basically when it beeps there is some tension, it's very accurate and I haven't had a false negative or positive yet. The LED flashlight helps a lot and is quite bright for its size. It doesn't use much power: I've had the product for a little over a month and use it at least 2+ hours a day without having to change batteries.
