Without pressing on the metal side of the clamp, the glass couldn't hold it. Another piece of plastic or rubber on the metal side will probably help a lot. But it wasn't that tight for me. Disappointment. Also, the main mounting bolts are tie bolts with no washers. This isn't a problem for me since I have a collection of screws, but it would be better to have something smaller and even a little more aesthetic than the big shiny hex head screws you get at Home Depot for a garage project. You may also need better quality drywall anchors. Otherwise this is a good compact shelf. So keep the clamp on the glass loose and tell the kids not to touch the shelf!
