We received our '01 Tribute in 2000. I thought that was it when we were struggling to get to 30mph and the EGR valves started blowing . I took care of the clogged catalytic converter but the engine still ran intermittently. I took a chance and bought a full set of ignition coils, these NGK spark plugs, a set of upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and a PCV valve. I was surprised by the mixed reviews about the quality and results of another big brand fork that I like. NGK was there and without exception the feedback was unequivocally positive but with subtle meaning. So I gave them a chance to prove their worth. After tightening the steam chamber screws, reinforcing the leaking PVC pipe and replacing the parts mentioned, the moment of truth came. I couldn't believe the difference. So supple, very flexible and pulls better than ever. Long term fuel adjustments are now neutral or balanced around zero instead of draining additional fuel. Instead of 100 miles on a single tank (with a limp), we're going over 200 miles, and that's better than we've seen in the last two decades. Now my wife has to make sure that the speed doesn't exceed 80 when we're speeding along the freeway at 2000 rpm. The transmission and engine feel good now, along with a solid, smooth yet snappy response. I suspect these spark plugs will last the rest of the car's life, however long it may be. It is important that the quality of life is very good at the moment.
